7.12.2026(주일) 나의 복음! My Gospel! (롬 16:25-27)
하나님을 믿어야만 난관을 뚫고 훌륭한 일을 해내는 것은 아닙니다. 때때로, 탄복할 수 밖에 없는 무서운 끈기와 집념으로 엄청난 일을 해내며 신념을 입증해내는 스토리를 우리는 접하곤 합니다. 하지만 신념과 믿음은 다릅니다. 이 차이는 누구의 뜻을 이루는 것이냐에 달려 있습니다.
1. 믿음은 ‘그리스도’를 행함으로 하나님의 뜻을 이루는 것이다. 믿음은 하나님이 주시는 것이며, 그 믿음은 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는데 있습니다. 하나님의 말씀을 믿으면 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 ‘복음’의 삶을 살아가게 됩니다. 나의 신념이 아닌 하나님의 뜻을 위하는 것이 믿음인 것입니다.
“믿음이 없이는 기쁘시게 못하나니 하나님께 나아가는 자는 반드시 그가 계신 것과 또한 그가 자기를 찾는 자들에게 상 주시는 이심을 믿어야 할찌니라” (히 11:6). 그렇다면 복음의 비밀, 복음의 위대함이 무엇입니까? 우리는 왜 여기 예배의 자리에 있는 것입니까?
(1) 복음으로써 산 자를 낳는다. “그리스도 안에서 일만 스승이 있으되 아비는 많지 아니하니 그리스도 예수 안에서 복음으로써 내가 너희를 낳았음이라” (고전 4:15). 복음을 통해서 산 자 곧 하나님의 자녀가 되는 것입니다. 그래서 복음전파가 그렇게 은혜로우며 위대한 거에요.
(2) 복음으로써 영생을 드러낸다. “이제는 우리 구주 그리스도 예수의 나타나심으로 말미암아 나타났으니 저는 사망을 폐하시고 복음으로써 생명과 썩지 아니할 것을 드러내신지라” (딤후 1:10). 복음을 통해서 우리는 산 자가 되며 주변사람에게 영생의 삶을 가져다 주는 것입니다.
복음은 어제도 아니고 내일도 아닙니다. 복음은 언제나 오늘이며 지금입니다. 복음은 시대에 뒤쳐지지 않으며, 어느 시대에나 복음으로 할 때는 언제나 옳습니다. 복음으로 하는 때는 언제나 완벽한 때입니다. 그래서 성경은 그리스도 복음에 합당하게 생활하라고 명하십니다 (빌 1:27).
2. 하나님의 복음에서 그리스도의 복음에서 나의 복음으로! 로마서에서는 복음에 대해 세가지로 표현합니다. 바로 ‘하나님의 복음’, ‘그리스도의 복음’, ‘나의 복음’입니다. (1) 하나님의 복음 복음의 근원, 복음의 출처가 하나님이시기 때문에 하나님의 복음인 거에요.
“예수 그리스도의 종 바울은 사도로 부르심을 받아 하나님의 복음을 위하여 택정함을 입었으니” (롬 1:1). (2) 그리스도의 복음 복음의 내용, 복음의 중심이 그리스도기 때문에 그리스도의 복음입니다. “예루살렘으로부터 일루리곤까지 그리스도의 복음을 편만하게 전하였노라” (롬 15:19).
(3) 나의 복음 복음의 적용이 ‘나’에게 일어나기 때문에 나의 복음입니다. 내가 복음의 결론이고 결과물이며 열매입니다. “나의 복음과 예수 그리스도를 전파함은 영세전부터 감취었다가” (롬 16:25). 정리하자면 이렇습니다. 복음의 기원이 하나님이시며 복음의 내용이 그리스도입니다.
하나님의 복음의 핵심이 그리스도이기에 그리스도를 가르치고 선포합니다. ‘나의 복음’은 하나님의 복음, 그리스도의 복음이 전파되어 내가 나오는 것입니다. 그래서 복음을 믿는 사람은 복음에 합당하게 살게 됩니다. 그래서 마음을 다하고 힘을 다하고 생명을 다해서 복음을 전할 뿐입니다.
“나의 달려갈 길과 주 예수께 받은 사명 곧 하나님의 은혜의 복음 증거하는 일을 마치려 함에는 나의 생명을 조금도 귀한 것으로 여기지 아니하노라” (행 20:24). 3. 죄인의 구원과 의인의 완성의 복음이다! 하나님, 그리스도, 나의 복음은 죄인을 구원하고 의인을 완성합니다.
사랑하는 여러분, 복음에는 원동력이 있습니다! 복음은 살아있고, 움직이며 역사하는 힘이 있습니다. “하나님의 말씀은 살았고 운동력이 있어 좌우에 날선 어떤 검보다도 예리하여 혼과 영과 및 관절과 골수를 찔러 쪼개기까지 하며 또 마음의 생각과 뜻을 감찰하나니” (히 4:12).
(1) 하나님 자체가 복음입니다. 하나님이 언약으로 약속하시고, 예수 그리스도를 통해서 죄인의 구원과 의인을 완성하는 복음입니다. (2) 그리스도가 복음입니다. 하나님의 지혜와 능력이 그리스도입니다! 예수의 십자가와 부활, 행한 구원사역 자체가 복음의 핵심이며 실체임을 증거합니다.
(3) 나의 복음 내가 복음이다! 하나님이 복음이신데 감히 내가 복음이 될 수 있나 생각할 수 있습니다. 하지만 하나님은 우리가 하나님처럼 거룩해지기를 원하십니다 (레 11:45). 내가 복음인 것은 하나님의 뜻대로 되어며, 나를 통해서 열방을 살리시는 복음의 체험을 하기 때문입니다.
구속교훈 우리 각자가 복음입니다. 그래서 실용적, 실천적으로 믿어야 합니다. 복음은 말만이 아니라 능력과 성령과 확신으로 역사합니다. “우리 복음이 말로만 너희에게 이른 것이 아니라 오직 능력과 성령과 큰 확신으로 된 것이니” (살전 1:5). 복음에는 우리가 필요한 모든 답이 있습니다.
길이 없으면 길 자체를 만드는 것이 복음입니다. 길이 없어도 마음에 예수님이 계시면 길이 생깁니다. 예수의 생각이 길이고 예수의 뜻이 진리이며, 예수의 삶이 신령한 생명입니다. “내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라” (요 14:6).
잘못된 것을 올바로 바로잡을 수 있는 기회를 주심에 감사하세요! 답도 해결도 없는 것 같으나 결국 주님이 모든 것을 주시고 해결하십니다. 복음에 합당하게 예배를 드리세요! 예배는 우리의 모든 것을 바로잡아 줍니다. 예배를 드리지 않고 일해서 큰 소득을 얻을 수 있다고 생각합니까?
하나님이 한번 불어버리시면 그것은 구멍 뚫린 전대에 넣은 삯이 되고 오히려 손해를 입게 된다는 것을 기억하세요 (학 1:6,9). 하나님은 자기의 힘으로 살다가 낙담하고 지친 인생들에게 말씀하십니다! “네 짐을, 너의 행사를 여호와께 맡겨 버리라 너를 붙드시고 너의 경영하는 것을 이루리라!”
6.28.2026(Sunday) Through That Bitterness, the Nations Are Restored! (Rev 10:10-11)
1. Sweetness Brightens the Eyes! (1) Honey brightens the eyes of the weary. Even though Jonathan, exhausted from the war, ate only a little honey, his eyes brightened. “But Jonathan had not heard that his father had bound the people with the oath, so he reached out the end of the staff that was in his hand and dipped it into the honeycomb. He raised his hand to his mouth, and his eyes brightened” (1 Sa 14:27).
(2) When the eyes are bright, the body also receives that “good” energy and becomes bright. “Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness” (Lk 11:34). When our eyes are purified by the “Word of God,” our bodies become radiant, causing a “positive energy” to emerge from within.
(3) The eyes that look upon Jesus always radiate a good energy! Good energy, that is, positive emotions, empathy, and motivation, benefit people around you. If you are good on the inside, that goodness will be revealed on the outside. Radiating positive energy through words and actions that others need is edifying others.
That is why it is Jesus alone. Because the “grace-filled” words and actions we need are found only in Jesus. The very first words Jesus spoke after rising from the dead were, “Peace be with you.” This was because what those gripped by fear and doubt truly needed was the “peace of God.”
“On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’” (Jn 20:19). The secret to having God’s peace lies in accepting Jesus, who has conquered sin and death, as my King, my God, and my Savior.
2. The Manna Was Like Honey, and the Little Scroll Was Like Honey. The common point of manna and the little scroll is that they taste like honey. “The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey” (Ex 16:31). “I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour” (Rev 10:10).
Through manna, you realize that man lives by God, and through the little scroll, you realize that godly people save the nations. It is solely the Word of God that can save the nations that are without faith, stripped of common sense, and struggling in the darkness and suffering of sin.
Nothing is sweeter than the Father’s peace! “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth” (Ps 119:103)! The peace that comes through the Word is sweet as honey; it is this very peace that opens our eyes and bodies and makes us righteous! I pray that we all may have this spiritual experience.
(1) But, both the honey-sweet manna and the little scroll turned bitter. At first, manna was heavenly food that tasted like honey. Yet, the very thing once regarded as a grace sweet as honey turned bitter amidst the hardships and trials of discipline of the wilderness. After all, don’t we also experience relationships that were once good transforming into painful, bitter ones?
The experience of God’s blessing and grace, which was like heaven, has turned bitter due to the hardships of life. “They spoke against God and against Moses, and said, ‘Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food’” (Nu 21:5)!
(2) It is because things are unfolding according to the Father’s will that one undergoes hardship and tribulation. The people of Israel complained, “The manna we eat every day is terrible, and we have no future. How miserable.” Why did something that was once sweet as honey change like this? The taste of suffering and tribulation is bitter. All our troubles are bitter.
The Word is sweet, yet putting it into practice and living it out is difficult. People often say that sometimes you have to resort to shortcuts or tell lies. However, we grow by embracing life’s hardships as a process of refinement through faith. I believe that through the discipline of godliness, our once-immature faith, hope, and love ripen and mature!
3. Medicine is Bitter, But That Bitterness Heals Our Pain. That is the nature of advice. The words I need are like medicine. Just as medicine is bitter yet heals me, the words I need to hear may be difficult to listen to, but heeding them brings about my healing. Do not be stubborn before God or think that you can handle everything on your own.
Beloved brothers and sisters, the death of Jesus is bitter. Because believing in His death requires that my old self, my old way of life, also die. What the nations need is “peace.” When the death of Jesus becomes my death and the resurrection of Jesus becomes my resurrection, there is “peace.”
“You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings” (Rev 10:11). There is only one reason why grace, once sweet as honey, comes to taste bitter. God, who knows all things, disciplines and refines us through the spiritual and physical cross in order to mold us into our very best selves.
Bitterness is a process of discipline through which God leads our faith to a higher and deeper level of spiritual maturity. It is only natural for those who have experienced the sweetness of manna and the honey-like taste of the “little scroll” to have a willing spirit. Because they become people who obey for the sake of the kingdom of God, moved by the sweetness of Jesus.
Beloved brothers and sisters, sweetness is the joy of salvation; sweetness is a sweet heart; and a sweet heart is a willing spirit! I believe that when we act with a willing spirit, a spirit that obeys the Word, all the bitter waters of life will turn into sweet waters! “Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me” (Ps 51:12).
